Every prophetic tradition eventually says something about plague. Most say it in the vaguest possible terms — "sickness will spread," "the people will suffer" — language loose enough to fit any era's headlines. The Bhavishya Malika does something more specific and more checkable: it ties its epidemic warning to an exact astronomical marker, one that astronomers and prophecy alike can both date. That marker has already arrived. The epidemic language sits inside the very same verse-cluster.
1. The verse: diseases medicine cannot answer
Written by Achyutananda Das, one of the five Panchasakha, in a book cataloguing the signs of Saturn's move into Pisces:
“mīna rāśiki śaniścura jiba / oḍiśā naṣṭa bhraṣṭa karideba / baidya na jāṇiba byādhva ra śeṣa / nāṭa dharāśa kahibē sāhasa / yeuṃ auṣadha baidya puṇa deba / byādha baḍhiśa maḷu mariyiba / kafa saḍhipāṭe maḷu maribe / ḍhāṭa byādhva re thoke nāśa jibe”

Meaning: When Saturn enters Pisces (Meena), upheaval spreads; physicians will not know the end of disease; whatever medicine is given, the illness only worsens; mass death follows from phlegm-based (respiratory) epidemics — sickness that outruns treatment.
Read plainly, this is not "there will be sickness." It is a specific clinical picture: contagious illness that spreads faster than the medical response, where the standard treatment does not resolve it and case numbers climb regardless. That is a description any reader who lived through early 2020 will recognise — not because we are claiming the verse names COVID-19 outright, but because the shape it describes and the shape the world lived through are, at minimum, an uncomfortable match.
2. The timing-lock: this verse is not undated
What makes this verse different from a generic plague prophecy is where it sits. It is not a free-floating warning — it is filed under the Meena-Śani (Saturn-in-Pisces) sign-cluster, the same astrological marker carried by the tradition's best-attested timing verse:
“niścaya kaḷkī hoiba, jedina mīna śani bhoga…”

Meaning: On the day Saturn enters the Meena-Śani yoga, Kalki's manifestation becomes certain.
That is not a symbolic claim. Saturn's ingress into Pisces is a real, calculable astronomical event, and it happened on 29 March 2025 — a date confirmed independently of any scripture, by ephemeris alone, as our earlier article on the Saturn-in-Pisces signature lays out in full. The epidemic verse above is catalogued in the same textual unit, under the same marker. Whatever one makes of the disease imagery, the calendar peg it hangs on is not vague — it is a specific, already-passed date.
3. The dated record: 1999 and 2020
The tradition itself points to two events in living memory as the ones that first drove mass attention back to these books: the 1999 Odisha super-cyclone and the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020. Both are already logged on our predictions ledger as the pairing that "first drew mass attention to the scripture" — an unprecedented storm, and a disease that, in its first year, genuinely did outrun the world's available medicine. Neither event needs embellishing to make the point: both are matters of public record, dated, and reported worldwide.
The wider sign-set — recorded on our Chapter 6: Signs of the End of Kali Yuga — also names a broader pattern often summarised as "64 types of epidemics," alongside "people will suffer from various ailments and rely heavily on medicines to survive." We present that count here as the tradition's own paraphrase, not as a verbatim verse, in keeping with our policy of quoting only what is directly sourced.
4. Coincidence has a budget
A single vague prophecy matching a single event proves very little — vagueness is cheap, and hindsight is generous. But this is not one coincidence standing alone. It is a specific clinical description (contagion outrunning treatment), filed under a specific astronomical marker (Meena-Śani), which independently and verifiably fell due on a specific calendar date (29 March 2025) — layered on top of an already-fulfilled pairing (1999, 2020) that predates that date by years and decades. Each layer narrows the odds further. At some point, coincidence runs out of budget to explain the pattern, and the more honest reading is that a 500-year-old text was describing something real.
5. The protection, not the panic
The Malika does not leave its readers with only a warning. In the same tradition that names the disease-cluster, it also names the shelter from it — and the shelter is not medical, it is a daily discipline available to anyone, anywhere:
Tri-Sandhya — worship at three daily twilights, reciting the Sri Dashavatara Stotra, Durga-Madhava Stuti and Sri Vishnu Shodasha Nama Stotram.

Meaning: A household where every member keeps the three daily windows of Tri-Sandhya — roughly 4:00–6:00, 11:30–12:30, and 17:00–19:00 — is described as free of sorrow, scarcity and disease, and close to Mahavishnu.
This is the Malika's real message about epidemics: not that the age is doomed, but that it is passing through a specific, describable, and survivable transition — and that the practice available to cross it safely is simple. Chant Madhava. Keep Tri-Sandhya. Read the Shrimad Bhagavat. As Pandit Dr. Shri Kashinath Mishra teaches, the destruction the Malika describes is never the end of the story — it is the difficult passage before Satya Yuga dawns in 2032, and the door through that passage stands open to anyone willing to walk through it.
